Top Giants News

  • Giants' Bobby Okereke: Limited Thursday

Okereke (hip) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

After being listed as a non-participant Wednesday, Okereke appears to be trending in the right direction. He underwent X-rays following Sunday's win at Washington, but he appears to have avoided anything serious. More clarity on his status for Week 12 will come following Friday's final injury report.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Sitting out again

Lawrence (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Lawrence has yet to practice this week and will likely need to get on the field Friday to increase his chances of suiting up against the Patriots on Sunday. The Clemson product has yet to miss a game this season and his potential absence would be a blow to the interior of the team's defensive line.

  • Giants' Sterling Shepard: Full participant at practice

Shepard (hip) was a full participant at Thursday's practice, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Shepard's full participation comes one day after logging a limited workload. Barring any setbacks, he looks on track to suit up in Sunday's matchup with the Patriots. The pass catcher has seen more playing time in recent weeks, but is still seen as the third or fourth option at best in New York's receiving roation.

  • Giants' Adoree' Jackson: Ramps up activity

Jackson (concussion) was a full participant during practice Thursday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

It's not clear if Jackson has cleared the league's five-step concussion protocols, but his ability to log a full practice is a step in the right direction. His status for Friday's practice session should shed better light on his potential availability for Sunday against the Patriots.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Bumps up to limited Thursday

Slayton (neck) is listed as limited on Thursday's injury report, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

After leaving this past Sunday's win at Washington due to an arm injury, Slayton was listed as a non-participant Wednesday due to a neck issue. Fortunately for the wide receiver, he upped his estimated activity level one day later and has one more chance to get back to full before the end of the week, when the Giants may give him a designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots.

  • Giants' Bobby McCain: Not listed on injury report

McCain (illness) was not listed on the Giants' injury report Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

McCain appears to have overcome an illness that kept him out of last week's win over the Commanders. The Giants will now have one of their top special teams contributors back for Sunday's game versus the Patriots.

  • Giants' Sterling Shepard: Dealing with hip injury

Shepard was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a hip injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Shepard received a little more playing time the past two weeks after barely playing for two months, but he's still not getting many targets and is at best the third or fourth option in a five- or six-man rotation at wide receiver. An absence for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots could mean more snaps for Wan'Dale Robinson, Parris Campbell, Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah Hodgins, especially if Darius Slayton (arm) is out as well. Shepard appears more likely to play than Slayton, who didn't practice at all Wednesday.

  • Giants' Eric Gray: Returning to practice

The Giants will designate Gray (calf) for return from their injured reserve list Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

The transaction will open a 21-day window during which the Giants can officially activate Gray before they'd have to shut him down for the rest of the year. Their injury reports this week will give an indication of whether he could suit up for Week 12.

  • Giants' Daniel Jones: Out 8-to-10 months after surgery

Jones (knee) is facing an expected recovery timeline of 8-to-10 months after undergoing successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ACL, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Jones suffered the season-ending right knee injury in a Nov. 5 loss to the Raiders. The 2024 NFL season is expected to kick off just under 10 months from the date of Jones' surgery, so he has a realistic chance of being fully cleared ahead of Week 1. Despite re-upping with the Giants on a four-year, $160 million contract extension this past spring, Jones may not be viewed as the organization's long-term answer under center after he posted an ugly 2:6 TD:INT in six appearances this season before injuring his knee. The Giants sit at 3-8 on the season heading into Week 11 action and could look to select a new franchise signal-caller with what could be a top-five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

  • Giants' Bobby Okereke: Not practicing Wednesday

Okereke (hip) will not participate at practice Wednesday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Okereke also underwent X-rays following Sunday's win at Washington, but the exact severity of his injury is still unclear at this point. If he can't practice Thursday or Friday, he'll likely end up being sidelined in Week 12.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Dealing with neck injury

Slayton -- who isn't practicing Wednesday -- has a neck injury rather than an arm injury, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.

Slayton was ruled out of this past Sunday's win over Washington with what was described as an arm injury after taking a big hit shortly before halftime. The Giants have since classified Slayton's injury differently, but his status will be worth monitoring heading into this Sunday's matchup with New England nonetheless. He will have two more opportunities to practice this week before the Giants potentially give him an injury designation.
