Tanev notched an assist and blocked three shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Predators. Tanev has a helpers in each of the last two contests, doubling his season total to four points (all assists). The 33-year-old blueliner has added 19 shots on net, 48 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating. He continues to be a defensive stalwart on the Flames' second pairing, though that role doesn't offer him much fantasy interest.... See More ... See Less

Flames' Chris Tanev: Offers helper
Tanev notched an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kraken. All three of Tanev's assists this season have come over his last nine games. The defenseman snapped a five-game point drought with the secondary helper on an Andrew Mangiapane tally in the third period. A lack of offense is nothing new for the defensive-minded Tanev, who has added 45 blocked shots, 19 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through 18 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Provides assist Tuesday
Tanev notched an assist and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Predators. Tanev helped out on a Noah Hanifin tally in the third period, which tied the game at 2-2. Those two blueliners have been paired together in recent games as head coach Ryan Huska looks to stabilize the Flames' defense. While Tanev has two assists over his last three games, his role is to shut down the opposition more than produce offense. He's added 28 blocked shots, 14 shots on net and a minus-4 rating through 12 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Snags helper in loss
Tanev posted an assist and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Stars. Tanev set up Connor Zary's first NHL goal early in the first period. The helper was Tanev's first point in 10 outings this season, though it's not surprising for the 33-year-old shutdown defender to go long stretches with little offense. He's added 14 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating while filling a top-four role this season.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Set to return
Tanev (upper body) is expected to play Tuesday versus the Blackhawks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev is set to return after a six-game absence. Michael Stone and Dennis Gilbert are both absent for warmups, which suggests Tanev is good to go in a top-four role. The 33-year-old should bolster the Flames' defense as they look to stay in the playoff race.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Game-time decision
Tanev (upper body) will be a game-time decision Tuesday versus Chicago, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev has picked up 13 points, 65 shots on goal and 125 blocked shots over 61 contests this campaign. He was paired with Noah Hanifin during Tuesday's morning skate, which is an encouraging sign. Tanev could be ready to return from a six-game absence.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Remains out
Tanev (upper body) won't play Sunday against Anaheim. Tanev will miss his sixth consecutive contest. He has contributed 13 points, 65 shots on goal and 125 blocked shots in 61 games this season. Dennis Gilbert has been playing during Tanev's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Still sidelined versus Kings
Tanev (upper body) will remain on the shelf against Los Angeles on Tuesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev was stuck in a 10-game pointless streak prior to suffering his upper-body injury. After racking up a career-high 28 points last year, the Toronto native will be hard-pressed to even reach the 20-point mark this season. In his stead, Dennis Gilbert figures to remain in the lineup until Tanev is cleared to return.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Not playing Saturday
Tanev (upper body) won't play Saturday against San Jose, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev will miss his third straight contest and it's currently unclear when he will be ready to return. He has generated 13 points and 125 blocks in 61 contests this campaign. Dennis Gilbert has been playing during Tanev's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Won't return Thursday
Tanev (upper body) will miss Thursday's game against Vegas, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan. This will be Calgary's second straight game without Tanev. He has a goal and 13 points in 61 appearances this season. Dennis Gilbert is projected to stay in the lineup for a second consecutive contest.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Won't play Tuesday
Tanev (upper body) is out for Tuesday's game versus the Ducks. Tanev logged 19:29 of ice time versus the Kings on Monday, but he apparently sustained an injury. Dennis Gilbert will draw into the lineup, while Troy Stecher will likely add some responsibility with Tanev out.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Credited with helper
Tanev picked up an assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins. Tanev had five helpers through 11 games in February, making it easily his most productive month of the season. The veteran defenseman is up to a goal, 12 assists, 51 shots on net, 99 blocked shots, 15 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 51 outings. He was paired with Noah Hanifin on Tuesday after spending much of the season with MacKenzie Weegar -- it's unclear what head coach Darryl Sutter has planned for his defense, but it's unlikely to add much fantasy value to Tanev's profile.... Flames' Chris Tanev: Logs assist in 700th game
Tanev posted an assist and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Coyotes. Tanev made a pass to Walker Duehr, who went hard to the net and finished on a backhand for the Flames' fifth goal. This was Tanev's 700th NHL game, and he's now earned 170 points in his career. The 33-year-old blueliner continues to be a sturdy defensive presence -- he has 12 points, 96 blocked shots, 47 shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 48 contests this season. He's picked up four assists through eight games in February.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Collects assist in overtime loss
Tanev notched an assist in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Senators. Tanev has three helpers and six blocked shots over his last two games. The 33-year-old defenseman doesn't often produce enough offense to help in standard fantasy formats, but he can go on short runs of success. He has 11 points, 42 shots on net, 93 blocks and a minus-1 rating through 44 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Expected to return
Tanev (upper body) is expected to return to the lineup Monday against the Rangers. Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev, who sat out two games prior to the All-Star break, has registered eight points, 40 shots on goal and 85 blocks in 40 contests this campaign. He was paired with MacKenzie Weegar during Monday's morning skate.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: On injured reserve
Tanev (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 23 on Friday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev was injured in a 4-3 win over Columbus on Monday and will miss a second straight contest Friday in Seattle. The Flames do not play again until Feb. 6 due to the bye week and upcoming All-Star break, giving the defenseman plenty of time to recover. Tanev has a goal, seven assists and 85 blocked shots in 40 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: Will miss next two games
Tanev (undisclosed) won't play Thursday versus Chicago or Friday against the Kraken, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Tanev will set his sights on returning to action Feb. 6 against the Rangers. With Tanev on the shelf, look for Connor Mackey to enter the lineup Thursday against the Blackhawks.... See More ... Flames' Chris Tanev: Exits early
Tanev (undisclosed) did not finish Monday's game versus the Blue Jackets. Tanev was hit in the first period and appeared to have some issue with his shoulder or arm, though the Flames didn't confirm if that was what caused him to leave the game. If he can't play Thursday versus the Blackhawks, Nikita Zadorov would see an increased role and Connor Mackey would likely enter the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Chris Tanev: First goal a game-winner
Tanev scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 6-5 victory over the Stars. The veteran blueliner potted his first goal of the season late in the second period, giving Calgary what seemed to be nothing more than an insurance tally in a 6-1 rout, but Dallas stormed back with four goals over the final 21 minutes of play to make things close. The helper was also Tanev's first power-play point of the season, and through 36 games the stay-at-home defender has just seven points, albeit with 74 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating.... Flames' Chris Tanev: Collects helper in win
Tanev notched an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Canucks. Tanev kept a puck in at the blue line and set up MacKenzie Weegar's first tally as a Flame in the second period. The assist was Tanev's first point in six games since returning from an upper-body injury that cost him three contests. The 33-year-old defenseman is up to six helpers, 28 shots on net, 68 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 30 appearances. Saturday was just the second time all season he failed to block a shot.... See More ... See Less
