  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Ruled out Friday

Murray (back) has been ruled out for Friday's matchup against the Timberwolves, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports. Murray will miss a second consecutive game due to the injury, and the Kings are going to be cautious with their starting power forward. Sasha Vezenkov and Trey Lyles are candidates to absorb some of Murray's minutes, and his next chance to play will come next Tuesday against the Warriors.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Downgraded to out

Murray (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup against the Pelicans. As expected, Murray will miss his first game of the season due to a back injury he picked up during Monday's loss to New Orleans. Chris Duarte (thumb) has been cleared to suit up, so he'll presumably take Murray's spot in the starting lineup. Sasha Vezenkov (thumb) and Trey Lyles are also candidates to absorb some of Murray's missing minutes.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Not spotted at shootaround

Murray (back), who's listed as questionable, wasn't spotted during the Kings' morning shootaround ahead of Wednesday's matchup in New Orleans, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports. Murray exited Monday's blowout loss to the Pelicans due to lower back soreness and is trending in the wrong direction ahead of Wednesday's matchup. Chris Duarte (thumb), Sasha Vezenkov (thumb) and Trey Lyles (calf) are also listed as questionable, but they participated in the team's shootaround and are expected to play in the rematch versus New Orleans.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Shut down with back injury

Murray has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Pelicans due to a lower back injury, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports. Murray didn't come out of the locker room to begin the second half, and the team announced shortly thereafter that he'll miss the rest of the contest while tending to a back issue. With Sasha Vezenkov (thumb) also out, expect the Kings to count on Kessler Edwards, Harrison Barnes and Colby Jones down the stretch.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Excels from deep with 25 points

Murray supplied 25 points (9-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 38 minutes during Monday's 132-120 win over the Cavaliers. Murray drilled a season-high five three-pointers against the Cavaliers. He's shooting only 39.1 percent from the field over nine games, but Murray should occasionally show up with a hot hand. His shot volume has definitely gone up from his rookie season.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Scores 12 points in loss to HOU

Murray ended Monday's 122-97 loss to Houston with 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 28 minutes. Murray struggled once again and failed to provide the Kings with a scoring punch in the absence of De'Aaron Fox (ankle), though at least he cleared the 10-point mark after not doing so in his previous two outings. The second-year forward is struggling after an impressive rookie year, and he's averaging just 12.8 points per game while shooting a meager 35.8 percent from the floor. Perhaps even more worrisome is that he's been downright poor when the Kings have needed him to step his game up.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Struggles massively in loss

Murray finished with seven points (3-12 FG, 1-8 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist over 33 minutes during Saturday's 107-89 loss to the Rockets. Murray had a golden chance to be the Kings' go-to scorer in a game where De'Aaron Fox (ankle) was absent and Domantas Sabonis struggled, but he struggled badly and delivered another uninspiring performance. Murray posted a single-digit scoring performance for the first time in 2023-24 and will aim to bounce back Monday in a rematch against the Rockets.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Delivers solid game

Murray produced 17 points (6-14 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 33 minutes during Sunday's 132-127 overtime win over the Lakers. Although his shot was a bit erratic, Murray was an excellent source of defensive production and a great complement to Domantas Sabonis in the frontcourt. Murray's stat lines have been very consistent to begin the season, cementing his foothold on a spot in the starting lineup.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Tallies 16 points in loss

Murray racked up 16 points (6-16 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 40 minutes during Friday's 122-114 loss to the Warriors. Murray finished third on Sacramento in scoring during the defeat, though he struggled with a 3-for-11 mark from behind the arc and four turnovers. The Iowa product did make up for those poor marks to some extent with his seven boards and two steals, with three of his rebounds coming on the offensive glass. Murray figures to be the third or fourth offensive option for Sacramento in most games, but he's locked into a starting role and should get plenty of opportunity to build upon last year's strong rookie campaign.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Off injury report

Murray (illness) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Jazz. Murray's illness sidelined him for a preseason game on Oct. 19, but his status for Opening Night wasn't in any real doubt. Murray has high expectations in 2023-24 and looked sharp in the preseason, averaging 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 three-pointers in 24.4 minutes.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Sticking with Sacramento

The Kings have elected to exercise Murray's (illness) third-year team option for the 2024-25 season, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports. Murray will stick with the Kings at least through the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign following Saturday's transaction. The Iowa product showed a lot of promise during his rookie season, putting up 12.2 points on 45.3 percent from the field to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 29.8 minutes per game (80 contests).

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Out with illness

Murray (illness) will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz. The Kings are sitting several starters for rest, but Murray has a legitimate illness. He's expected to be recovered in time for Opening Night on Oct. 25 against Utah, but the Kings' first official injury report of 2023-24 should confirm that notion.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Logs 24 points in loss

Murray posted 24 points (10-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals across 35 minutes in Wednesday's 116-115 preseason loss to the Warriors. Murray earned a starting job early in his rookie season, and the Iowa product is poised to have a breakout campaign in his second year with the Kings. Murray averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists last season, and his role in Wednesday's game is a sign that these numbers will rise significantly, especially if his three-point volume stays high.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Not listed on injury report

Murray (thumb) isn't listed on the Kings' injury report for Sunday's preseason matchup against the Warriors. Murray missed Wednesday's exhibition with a sore right thumb, but it looks like he'll return to his usual starting role Sunday. The Iowa product was solid as a rookie, averaging 12.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals-plus-blocks in 29.8 minutes, but the Kings are likely expecting him to take a big step forward in Year 2.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Back at practice

Murray (thumb) returned to practice Friday, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports. Murray was sidelined for Wednesday's preseason game due to a sore right thumb, but it appears the issue was minor. While his return to practice is a good sign, Murray's status for Sunday's exhibition versus Golden State remains to be determined.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Posts 41 points in final SL game

Murray logged 41 points (11-20 FG, 6-11 3PT, 13-15 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one steal and four blocks in 31 minutes of Wednesday's 95-83 Summer League win over Miami. Murray once again was the best player on the floor, following up a 29-point outing in Sacramento's Summer League opener with a 41-point outburst. After two outstanding showings in the California Classic, Murray's Summer League action will come to a close, as he won't play in Las Vegas, per Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. After showing off an improved ability to create his own shots off the dribble, Murray could be in line for a sophomore leap in 2023-24 as the Kings' expected starting power forward.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Double-doubles in win

Murray registered 15 points (5-17 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and one block across 45 minutes during Friday's 118-99 victory over the Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Murray didn't have a good shooting performance and ended with more field goal attempts (17) than points scored (15), but the rookie still salvaged his fantasy line by posting a double-double, his first of the series. He has also scored in double figures in three straight outings.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Finally finds form

Murray ended with 23 points (9-13 FG, 5-7 3Pt), seven rebounds and one assist over 33 minutes during Sunday's 126-125 loss to the Warriors in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Murray had his best game of the playoffs, dropping in 23 points including 5-of-7 from the perimeter. Sadly, he was unable to round out his evening with any peripheral production of note, something that's been an ongoing issue for the rookie. With the series now tied at 2-2, the Kings will return home for a critical Game 5.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Good to go

Murray (foot) will play in Friday's game against the Warriors, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports. Murray was questionable due to a sore foot, but that does not look to be serious. With several other starters sidelined, the rookie will have an opportunity to be more of a focus in the Kings' offense.

  • Kings' Keegan Murray: Questionable Friday

Murray is questionable for Friday's game against the Warriors due to right foot soreness. Murray has only missed two games this season, but it appears there's a chance that number will hit three Friday. Trey Lyles (shoulder) and Domantas Sabonis (ankle) are also questionable, so the Kings' frontcourt could be very thin Friday night. If all these guys are out, Chimezie Metu and Kessler Edwards could get major minutes.
