  • Matthew Wright: Signs to Falcons' practice squad

Atlanta signed Wright to the practice squad Thursday, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports. Wright joins the Falcons' practice squad after Younghoe Koo (back) missed Wednesday's practice. Depending on Koo's status for Week 12, Wright could be asked to make a spot start Sunday versus the Saints.

  • Matthew Wright: Dropped by practice squad

The 49ers cut Wright from their practice squad Saturday. Wright signed with San Francisco's practice squad Sept. 4, but his time with the unit will ultimately be cut short. He was being kept as a backup option for starting kicker Jake Moody. Wright will now be on the hunt for a new opportunity.

  • Chiefs' Matthew Wright: Inactive Saturday

Wright (coach's decision) will not play Saturday against the Raiders, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Harrison Butker is good to go, making Wright -- who was elevated from the practice squad Friday -- an unneeded luxury Saturday. It's entirely possible the team may have to follow the same cadence next week depending on how Butker's back is feeling after Week 18 action.

  • Chiefs' Matthew Wright: Added to roster, could kick Week 18

The Chiefs elevated Wright from the practice squad Friday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. The fact that Kansas City is using one of its two allotted practice-squad elevations on Wright signals that Harrison Butker (back) -- who is listed as questionable -- may not play Saturday against the Raiders. If Butker is placed on the inactive list ahead of Saturday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff, Wright would step in to handle kicking duties for Kansas City. For fantasy leagues still playing out Week 18 that include a kicker spot, Wright could be worthy of a pickup, given that he'll be tied to one of the NFL's most prolific offenses. Moreover, unlike several teams playing this week, the Chiefs have something to play for, as a win over the Raiders or a Bills loss to the Patriots would lock Kansas City in as the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

  • Matthew Wright: Back with Chiefs' practice squad

The Chiefs signed Wright to their practice squad Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. With Harrison Butker currently listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Raiders due to a back issue, Wright will now provide additional kicking depth just in case the latter won't be available in Week 18. The 26-year-old appeared in two games for Kansas City earlier this year, converting three of his four field-goal attempts and all eight extra-point tries in that span. Wright then kicked for Pittsburgh across four games later in the season and went 12-for-14 on field-goal tries and 7-for-7 on extra-point attempts.

  • Steelers' Matthew Wright: Perfect once again

Wright converted all three of his field-goal attempts while making his lone extra-point try during the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Colts on Monday. Wright missed two field-goal attempts during his Steelers debut against the Saints in Week 10, but he's converted all 10 of his kicks over the last two weeks, including a 52-yard attempt during Monday's primetime win. He'll likely continue to serve as Pittsburgh's kicker next week against Atlanta, but his role after Week 13 likely depends on when Chris Boswell (groin) is cleared to return from injured reserve.

  • Steelers' Matthew Wright: Kicking again in Week 11

Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Tuesday that Wright would retain kicking duties for the Steelers in the team's Week 11 game against the Bengals, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports. Wright will get another shot at redemption after misfiring from 39 and 48 yards out on two of his four field-goal attempts in this past Sunday's 20-10 win over the Saints. The 26-year-old has converted at a respectable 83.3 percent rate from the field over parts of three NFL seasons, so the Steelers believe the erratic showing against the Saints was more of an outlier performance. Pittsburgh will have an opening for Wright for at least three more games after Chris Boswell (groin) was placed on injured reserve ahead of last week's game.

  • Steelers' Matthew Wright: Struggles in team debut

Wright converted two of four field-goal attempts while making both of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 20-10 win over the Saints on Sunday. Wright handled kicking duties for Pittsburgh in Week 10 after Chris Boswell (groin) was placed on injured reserve. Wright made his two kicks in the first half but struggled after halftime and missed a 39-yard field-goal attempt in the third quarter before missing a 48-yard try in the fourth. The 26-year-old made three of four field-goal attempts while converting all eight of his extra-point tries over two games with Kansas City earlier in the year, and it's not yet clear whether he'll continue to serve as the team's kicker in Boswell's absence given his performance against New Orleans.

  • Steelers' Matthew Wright: Catches on with Steelers

Pittsburgh signed Wright off Kansas City's practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Wright made his NFL debut with the Steelers in 2020, but he's since had stints with the Jaguars and Chiefs, the latter of whom he appeared with in two games earlier this season. Over 19 career NFL games, Wright has converted 28 of 32 field-goal attempts and 28 of 30 extra-point tries. The Steelers' decision to sign him suggests that he'll likely serve as the team's kicker Week 10 against the Saints while Chris Boswell continues to tend to a groin injury following Pittsburgh's bye week.

  • Chiefs' Matthew Wright: Up from practice squad

The Chiefs have elevated Wright from their practice squad ahead of Monday night's game against the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. With Harrison Butker out due to a left ankle injury, Wright is slated to handle the team's kicking duties for the second game in a row. In Kansas City's 41-31 win over the Buccaneers in Week 4, Wright made both of his field-goal attempts en route to recording 11 points.

  • Matthew Wright: Secures practice squad deal

Wright was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad Tuesday, Charles Goldman of USA Today reports. Wright was added by Kansas City, as starting kicker Harrison Butker, who returned to practice Wednesday, is still working his way back from an ankle injury suffered in Week 1. The practice-squad kicker went 34-of-39 on total kicking attempts over 14 games with Jacksonville last season, so he will provide a reliable backup option if Butker sits out once again this Sunday against the Buccaneers.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Makes both kicks in blowout

Wright made his lone field-goal attempt and his lone PAT during Sunday's 50-10 loss at New England. Jacksonville's offense managed only 11 first downs, so Wright once again had limited opportunities in the kicking game. He missed his first field goal of the season but is 16-for-18 on field goals over the past 10 games. Despite not missing a field goal since Week 10, Wright won't be on the fantasy radar for the final game of the regular season given the offense's struggles.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: No opportunities Week 14

Wright didn't attempt a kick during Sunday's 20-0 loss to the Titans. Wright delivered the opening kickoff but never took the field again Sunday, as Jacksonville's offense mustered only 192 yards and had four turnovers. The 25-year-old has one successful PAT and zero field-goal attempts over the past two games.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Makes both field goals

Wright converted both field-goal attempts and did not attempt an extra-point during Sunday's 21-14 loss to Atlanta. Wright converted from 22 and 34 yards in the contest, and the Jaguars opted for a two-point conversion on their only touchdown of the afternoon. He continue to have limited fantasy upside in poor offense that has topped the 20-point mark only three times in 11 games.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Misses two kicks in loss

Wright made one of two field-goal attempts and missed his lone PAT during Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Colts. Wright missed wide right on the extra point following Jacksonville's first touchdown, and he was wide right again from 51 yards during the third quarter. The 25-year-old did convert from 56 yards to close out the first half. Wright has attempted only two fields goals from inside 40 yards in six games, though he is 4-for-6 on attempts from 50-plus yards.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Provides only scoring in win

Wright made three of four field-goal attempts during Sunday's 9-6 win over the Bills. Wright converted from 21, 39 and 55 yards to supply Jacksonville's only points of the afternoon, He also missed wide left from 42 yards during the third quarter, which was comically preceded by two unofficial misses that were negated by penalties. Wright is 6-for-8 on field goals and 7-for-8 on PATs through five games this season, and he remains a fantasy kicker to avoid given the overall struggles of the Jacksonville offense.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Retains kicking job

Wright will serve as the Jaguars' kicker Sunday against the Dolphins in London with Josh Lambo (coach's decision) inactive for the contest, Mia O'Brien of First Coast News Jacksonville reports. For the second straight week, Wright has won out in the competition for kicking duties with Lambo, who has been forced to battle for his job since his Week 4 absence due to a personal matter. Though he converted on only one of two extra-point tries and hit the crossbar and missed on a 53-yard attempt in last week's loss to the Titans, Wright could build up some more job security with a stronger showing in London.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Signs on with Jacksonville

Wright signed a contract with the Jaguars on Saturday, John Shipley of SI.com reports. It sure seems like Josh Lambo's tenure with the team could be coming to an end, and at least for the immediate future expect Wright to once again handle the primary kicking duties. Wright has attempted just one field goal over the last two weeks as a starter, but he's at least gone 4-for-5 on extra-point attempts over that stretch.

  • Jaguars' Matthew Wright: Misses PAT

Wright made one of two PATs and missed his lone field-goal attempt during Sunday's 37-19 loss to the Titans. Wright hit the right upright on a PAT during the first quarter, and he also came up short and hit the crossbar on a 53-yard field goal. The 25-year-old won the kicking competition with Josh Lambo last week, but he was unable to fully take advantage of the game opportunity. Lambo and Wright are a combined 0-for-4 on field-goal attempts as the Jaguars have yet to convert one this season. Wright was a gameday elevation Sunday and will revert back to the practice squad, and it's uncertain if he'll receive another chance to kick for Jacksonville.

  • Matthew Wright: Reverts to practice squad

Wright has reverted to the Jaguars' practice squad per the NFL's transaction log. Wright replaced Josh Lambo (personal) on the team's active roster for Thursday's Week 4 loss to the Bengals. He converted all of his PATs and did not attempt a field goal during the contest.
