Player Outlook
Robinson is expected to be the No. 1 running back in Washington, and he's worth drafting as a No. 3 Fantasy running back/flex with a mid-round pick. Robinson had a quality rookie campaign in 2022, especially after overcoming being the victim of a shooting prior to the start of the season. He missed the first four games, but he scored at least 10 PPR points in six of his final 11 outings. He'll compete with Antonio Gibson for playing time, but Robinson should lead the Commanders in carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns if he stays healthy. Where Robinson could struggle is the passing game, as he only had nine catches for 60 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets in his rookie campaign. Still, Robinson has the potential for 250 carries, and he could end up as a weekly Fantasy starter in all leagues based on his rushing prowess alone. Don't be surprised if Robinson ends up as a top-20 Fantasy running back in 2023.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Held in check in Thanksgiving loss

Robinson carried the ball 15 times for 53 yards and caught two of three targets for 11 yards in Thursday's 45-10 loss to the Cowboys. The Commanders kept things fairly close in the first half and were only down 20-10, allowing them to keep Robinson involved in the offense, but once things got away from them after the break the running game became an afterthought. The second-year RB also briefly left the contest in the second quarter to get checked for a concussion, but he was cleared to return. After two straight games with over 100 scrimmage yards, Robinson returned to the mediocre production level he's been stuck in most of the season, both due to game script and his own lackluster 4.0 yards per carry average. He'll try to get rolling again in Week 13 against the Dolphins, as the Commanders do their best to keep Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill on the sideline.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Another big day as pass catcher

Robinson rushed the ball 17 times for 73 yards in Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Giants. He added seven receptions on nine targets for 58 yards. Robinson saw a season-high 24 touches in the absence of Antonio Gibson (toe) and topped 100 total yards for the second consecutive game as a result. He ripped off gains of 18 and 11 yards on the ground to reach 70 rushing yards for the third time this season. However, for the second consecutive week, his most impressive work came as a pass catcher, as he led the team in targets and receptions while tying for the team lead in receiving yards. Robinson hasn't been all that impressive as a rusher throughout the campaign, but he'll have an extra path to production so long as Sam Howell chooses to rely on him as a primary checkdown option.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: RBs to Start

Robinson didn't have a great game against the Giants in Week 7 with eight carries for 23 yards, but he scored a touchdown. He's been touchdown dependent for most of the season, and he has a touchdown in four of his past five games. In Week 10 at Seattle, we saw him more involved as a receiver with six catches for 119 yards and a touchdown on six targets, and it's good to see him doing other things in the offense. The Giants have allowed a running back to score a touchdown in four games in a row, and Robinson should follow suit. He's a solid No. 2 running back in all leagues in Week 11.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Career day as receiver

Robinson took eight carries for 38 yards while catching all six of his targets for 119 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-26 loss to Seattle. Robinson's big day as a pass catcher resulted in a new single-game high in receiving yards while nearly doubling the combined air production from his previous nine contests in one fell swoop. The second-year back did finish with single-digit carries for the third time this season, but he offset the low usage as a rusher by providing a fantasy line most managers would be content with from their top wide receiver. The Alabama product has been a strong contributor through 10 games this season, combining for 741 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns over that span. Robinson could stay hot in Week 11 with a favorable matchup against a banged-up Giants squad next Sunday.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Scores seventh scrimmage TD of 2023

Robinson rushed 18 times for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over New England. He added one catch for four yards on two targets and lost a fumble. Robinson sauntered into the end zone untouched from nine yards out to put Washington up 10-0 in the second quarter, but he fumbled on the Commanders' next drive. After scoring only three scrimmage touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie last season, Robinson has seven touchdowns through nine games in his second NFL campaign. Antonio Gibson tied his season high with six rushing attempts in this game, but Robinson remains Washington's top option on the ground heading into a Week 10 trip to Seattle.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Efficient day on 12 touches

Robinson rushed 10 times for 59 yards and secured both targets for 20 yards in the Commanders' 38-31 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Robinson was highly effective as a runner and also recorded multiple catches for the fourth time in the last five contests. However, the second-year back's opportunities were limited as the game went on, capping Robinson's overall output. Robinson should be the beneficiary of a more favorable game script in a Week 9 road battle against the Patriots.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: RBs to Sit

Robinson scored a touchdown at the Eagles in Week 4, but he only managed 14 carries for 45 yards and two catches for 6 yards on two targets. He's scored a touchdown in three of his past four games, which has saved his Fantasy production, but he's combined for just 106 rushing yards and 59 receiving yards over that span. We'll see if he can score another touchdown against the Eagles in Week 8, but he's now sharing touches with Antonio Gibson and Chris Rodriguez Jr., which is clearly a problem. And Philadelphia just shut down Raheem Mostert in Week 7, holding him to nine carries for 45 yards and one catch for 6 yards on three targets.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Salvages day with TD

Robinson carried the ball eight times for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 14-7 loss to the Giants. He also failed to catch his only target. Robinson accounted for the Commanders' only points on the afternoon with a four-yard TD plunge in the fourth quarter, but his longest run went for only six yards, and he was surprisingly out-gained by rookie Chris Rodriguez. Robinson's spot at the top of the depth chart may not be in any immediate danger, but he's been held below 50 rushing yards in four straight contests and is averaging below 4.0 yards per carry for the second straight campaign. Washington's entire running game will face a tough test in Week 8 against the Eagles.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Scores receiving touchdown in win

Robinson rushed 10 times for 31 yards and brought in both targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 24-16 win over the Falcons on Sunday. Robinson encountered tough sledding on the ground against a feisty Falcons front, but he found the end zone as a receiver for the first time since Week 1 on an impressive 24-yard catch and run early in the third quarter. The second-year back is now in a three-game funk as a runner, as he hasn't eclipsed 45 rushing yards in any contest during that span. Robinson's prospects might be a bit brighter in Week 7, however, as Washington visits the struggling Giants.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: More production as receiver in loss

Robinson rushed six times for 10 yards and brought in all four targets for 33 yards in the Commanders' 40-20 loss to the Bears on Thursday night. Robinson's viability in the ground attack quickly evaporated when the Commanders fell behind by more than three touchdowns in the first half. That helped push him into more of a pass-catching role, resulting in a season high in receptions. Conversely, Robinson's carries and rushing yardage were both low-water marks for him this season, but he should have the benefit of a more normal game script in a Week 6 road matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 15.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: RBs to Start

Robinson has scored at least 13.1 PPR points in three of four games this season, and he gets a great matchup in Week 5 against the Bears. Chicago has already allowed six running backs to score at least 12.7 PPR points this season, and the only running back who had at least 10 total touches against the Bears and failed to either score a touchdown or gain at least 100 total yards was A.J. Dillon in Week 1. Robinson has at least 10 total touches in every game this season, and I like him as a top 10 Fantasy running back in all leagues.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Finds end zone in OT loss

Robinson carried the ball 14 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for six yards in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Eagles. The running back found paydirt midway through the fourth quarter on a 15-yard run, tying the game at 24-24 and setting up a wild finish. The yardage was Robinson's lowest in four games so far this season, but he's scored four TDs along the way to maintain strong fantasy value. He could be poised for an even bigger performance in Week 5 against a Bears defense that was just gashed for over 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown by Denver rookie RB Jaleel McLaughlin.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: Sit Him In PPR (Lineup Decisions)

We learned last week that Washington is willing to bypass Robinson's normal workload if it means throwing to get back into a game. And, we've known for a while that the Commanders prefer Antonio Gibson on passing downs. If the Eagles do what they've been doing then Sam Howell & Co. will have to abandon the run -- and even if they don't there's still a pretty decent shot Robinson doesn't explode. He feels touchdown-reliant, albeit with the potential for maybe 75 yards. I don't mind using him strictly in non-PPR over upside plays like De'Von Achane and Jahmyr Gibbs, and he belongs ahead of Rachaad White and Najee Harris in all formats, but RBs like Jerome Ford and James Cook should start ahead of Robinson.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: RBs to Sit

I thought Robinson would struggle in Week 3 against Buffalo, and he did with 7.0 PPR points. He failed to score a touchdown or catch a pass for the first time this season, although he averaged 7.0 yards per carry. He faces another tough matchup in Week 4 against the Eagles, and Philadelphia has yet to allow a running back to score this season. Rhamondre Stevenson in Week 1 is the lone running back with more than 9.3 PPR points against the Eagles, and Robinson is only worth starting as a flex option at best in Week 4.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Efficient on ground in loss

Robinson rushed 10 times for 70 yards and wasn't targeted in the Commanders' 37-3 loss to the Bills on Sunday. Robinson was outstanding on a per-touch basis, but game script and his lack of targets capped his overall production. The second-year back has looked appreciably more explosive early this season after playing a shortened rookie campaign due to a leg injury, and prior to Sunday, he'd drawn five targets over the first two games. Robinson and the Commanders have another unenviable matchup when they face the Eagles on the road in a Week 4 road contest.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

Robinson has been fantastic so far to start the season, scoring 13.6 PPR points in Week 1 against Arizona and 28.9 PPR points in Week 2 at Denver. He has three total touchdowns over that span, but I'm worried that Robinson could be in for a letdown this week. Buffalo gave up some big plays to Breece Hall in Week 1, and he had 147 total yards on 11 total touches. But the Bills also clamped down on Josh Jacobs last week for nine carries for minus-2 yards and five catches for 51 yards on six targets. If the Commanders are chasing points this week then we could see more of Antonio Gibson and less of Robinson, who might need to score a touchdown to save his Fantasy value. He's still a flex option in the majority of leagues, but don't be surprised if he struggles in Week 3 against the Bills.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Big fantasy day

Robinson rushed 18 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns while adding 42 yards on two receptions (three targets) in Sunday's 35-33 win over the Broncos. Robinson helped rally the Commanders to a three-score comeback win with two touchdowns in the second half. The 24-year-old acted as Washington's lead back, receiving 18 of the 20 carries issued to running backs Sunday. Robinson followed up last week's receiving touchdown with a pair of 21-yard receptions, which should be considered a bonus for fantasy managers given his minimal usage as a receiver in past seasons. He'll look to continue his red-hot start to the 2023 season against the Bills next Sunday.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: Sleeper RBs

Robinson is one of my favorite plays in Week 1, but I also like Gibson in this matchup with the Cardinals. In 2022, Arizona allowed five sets of running backs (Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack, Leonard Fournette and Rachaad White, Cordarrelle Patterson and Tyler Allgeier and Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell) to score at least 12 PPR points in the same game. That could happen again this week. While Robinson should handle the bulk of carries for Washington, Gibson should be deployed in the passing game. I like him as a high-end flex against the Cardinals.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: Contrarian DFS Play

I think the people looking for cheap backs this week will probably turn to Jamaal Williams, Raheem Mostert, or Deon Jackson. But Robinson has arguably the best matchup on the board and could see a large workload in the fourth quarter after Washington builds a two-score lead. I even like stacking Robinson with contrarian QB Sam Howell as we expect Eric Bienemy to lean heavily on the screen game.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson Jr.: RBs to Start

Robinson and Antonio Gibson are both worth starting this week, but Robinson is the preferred choice in all leagues. I almost made him the Start of the Week. This game has the chance to be a Commanders' blowout, and Robinson should get plenty of carries against a bad defense. Last year, Arizona was No. 3 in most PPR points allowed to opposing running backs, and the Cardinals might be worse in 2023. Robinson closed last season as the bellcow in Washington with at least 18 carries in four of his final five outings, and he should improve this season with Eric Bieniemy now calling plays for the Commanders.
